Seeford's Spot

Reader, not a writer, and like to keep it that way - I'd rather be reading!
The Compound - S.A. Bodeen Whiny, annoying narrator who changes from a selfish jerk into 'our hero' much too quickly and easily. The plot had a good twist, but the reasons for the whole situation in the first place were pretty weak. Rushes from one thing to the next, hard to tell how much time passes over the course of the book -three days, a week? Lots of ideas and new stuff broached in that time, very little exploration of it all. (Trying to keep this spoiler-free.) The ending is way too simplistic and easy, all wrapped up neat and tied with a bow. I did appreciate that this was a standalone novel, no dragging us through trilogies or quads, thank goodness.
