Re-reading for Book of the Month in my group The Alternate World.
Interesting how differently I feel about the book reading it now, as opposed to when I read it earlier (as an adult, but before becoming a parent.)
The ending left me depressed (as I interpreted the ending), so I'm glad I went on to read the other two related books in this 'cycle' - Gathering Blue and then Messenger. I found the last book to change my interpretation of the ending of The Giver to be much less depressing. Thank goodness!
